The player for the TV service you already have.
GridTV plays your own IPTV subscription, from an M3U link or an Xtream login, with a proper programme guide, a film and series library, casting, and up to four channels at once.
GridTV ships no channels and doesn't help you find any. You bring the subscription.
For iPhone and iPad, with an Apple Watch companion. Needs iOS 18 or later. 72 hours to try, then GridTV Pro from $2.99 a month.
Built to play. Nothing else.
-
A player, not a provider.
GridTV has no channels, films or video of its own, and no way to browse for any. It shows what your own subscription contains.
-
No account, no servers.
Everything GridTV knows lives on your device. Your provider password goes into the iOS Keychain and only ever to your provider.
-
Honest about its limits.
GridTV can't record, download or export a stream. Every frame plays from the network as it arrives and is discarded.
Three steps. The first one is yours.
-
Get a subscription from a licensed provider.
GridTV doesn't sell or recommend one. Your provider gives you either an M3U link or an Xtream login: a server address, a username and a password. Not sure which you have? Read M3U playlists and Xtream logins, explained.
-
Add it to GridTV.
Tap the plus button, choose M3U URL or Xtream, and paste what your provider sent you. If you have a programme guide address (XMLTV), add that too. You can also import an M3U file from Files or iCloud Drive.
-
Watch.
Channels and the guide appear as they download. Films and series appear too if your provider offers them over an Xtream login. Cast to a TV, open several channels at once, or set a reminder for a programme.
What you get
Live
Live TV
Live
A channel list you can organise: favourites, groups, sorting, and hiding what you never watch. Playback continues in Picture in Picture. Choose audio and subtitle tracks when the stream has them.
Casting
Send a channel to an Apple TV or another AirPlay TV, or to a Chromecast through your phone.
-
Multiview
Up to four channels at once. Tap a tile to move the sound, long-press to make it the main tile. If your phone gets warm, GridTV closes tiles to protect playback and tells you what it did. Each tile is a separate connection to your provider, and many subscriptions allow only one or two.
Multiview on a TV
Send the whole grid to a TV, mirror your phone, or send one channel. The phone becomes the remote.
Schedule
Guide
A programme grid across all your playlists at once. Jump to a date, shift the guide's time if your provider's schedule is off, and match guide channels by hand. Tap a programme to see its details and set a reminder.
Search
One search across channels, films, series and what's coming up in the guide, by title, year or cast.
Catch-up
Where your provider keeps an archive, play programmes that have already aired, straight from the guide. Which channels have an archive is up to your provider.
Reminders
Up next
Set a reminder for a programme and get a notification, or an alarm where your iOS version supports it. Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show what's on now and what's up next, and an Apple Watch glance and complications show the same.
On demand
Library
Films and series from your Xtream provider, with posters, cast, director, genre, ratings and trailer links when the provider supplies them. GridTV picks up where you stopped. Details come from your provider's own data, never from an outside service.
Your own videos
Put your own video files in the GridTV folder in Files and they appear under Library, with subtitle files alongside.
Settings
Parental lock
A PIN, with Face ID or Touch ID if you choose. Once you set a PIN, categories that look adult from their name lock automatically, and you can lock any category yourself. Locked categories disappear from the list, the guide, search and favourites.
iCloud Sync
Optional, off until you switch it on. Playlists, favourites, hidden items, category order and guide settings follow you between your own devices. Provider passwords never sync.
Backup and restore
Save your playlists and settings to a file and restore them later. A backup holds no passwords.
Twelve languages
English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Turkish, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
Your colours
Pick the accent behind the panels: Indigo, Emerald, Burgundy, Neon, or none.

What GridTV knows about you stays on your device
-
No accounts, no analytics, no advertising.
GridTV has no servers of ours to send anything to.
-
Passwords stay in the Keychain.
An Xtream username and password go into the iOS Keychain, marked so they never sync, and are sent only to your provider.
-
iCloud Sync is yours and optional.
It copies some settings into your own iCloud account. It is off until you turn it on, and passwords are never included.
-
Unencrypted providers are flagged.
Many providers still use plain
http://. GridTV allows it, useshttps://automatically where your M3U provider offers it, and marks the rest Unencrypted in Settings ▸ Playlists so you can see which ones.

Questions people ask
Does GridTV include channels?
No. GridTV is a player. It ships no channels, no films, no sample playlist and no video of any kind, and it has no way to browse for any. You add a playlist or login from a service you already use, and GridTV shows what is in it.
Where do I get a playlist?
From a provider you choose and pay yourself. GridTV can't recommend one, list one or help you find one. Your provider will give you either an M3U link or an Xtream login. If you are choosing a provider, start with how to choose a legitimate IPTV provider.
Is IPTV legal?
IPTV is a way of delivering television over the internet, and many licensed broadcasters and operators use it. Whether a particular service is lawful depends on whether it has the rights to what it sells. Services that sell access to channels without the rights holders' permission infringe copyright; in 2017 the EU's top court held, in the Filmspeler case, that selling a player pre-set to link to unauthorised streams can itself be an infringement. Rules for viewers differ by country. GridTV plays only what you add, so using a licensed provider is on you. This is general information, not legal advice. The article on choosing a legitimate provider shows what to look for.
What is the difference between M3U and Xtream?
An M3U link is one address that points to a list of live channels. An Xtream login is a server address, a username and a password, and lets the app ask the server for live channels, films, series and a guide. Add an Xtream login if your provider offers one: you get films and series, which an M3U link doesn't carry. M3U playlists and Xtream logins, explained has the detail.
Which devices does GridTV run on?
iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later, plus an Apple Watch companion (glance and complications) on watchOS 11. There is no tvOS app and no Mac version, so to watch on a television you cast: AirPlay or Chromecast.
Is my login safe?
GridTV keeps your Xtream username and password in the iOS Keychain, the same protected storage iOS uses for saved passwords, marked so they never sync to iCloud or other devices. They are sent only to your provider, because that is how the provider identifies you. There is no GridTV server for them to go to. One caveat, below: if your provider uses http:// rather than https://, anyone on your network can see what is sent.
What does the parental lock do?
You set a four-digit PIN, and can add Face ID or Touch ID. Until you set a PIN nothing is hidden. Once you set one, categories whose names look adult are locked automatically, and you can lock or unlock any category yourself. Locked categories disappear from the channel list, the guide, search and favourites. It doesn't change what your provider sends, so it is a tool for one device, not a content filter for your whole home. See parental controls for IPTV at home. GridTV is rated 9+.
How does the 72-hour trial work?
It starts the first time you open GridTV and runs for 72 hours of wall-clock time, whether or not you've added a playlist yet. Nothing is held back: every playlist, the full guide and four-channel Multiview. It is not an Apple subscription trial, so there is nothing to cancel. Settings shows how long is left. If you install on Monday and get your provider login on Friday, the 72 hours may be spent before your first channel, so have your login ready.
